Without being cynical, sarcastic or resorting to the vernacular, it is difficult to find a way of expressing judgment upon the apostate attitude, devaluation and inflation policies, and philosophies practised by government and parliament over the past thirty years. Several factors come to mind from avoidance to deprivation to inequity to unfairness: Not to mention the 'theft' of otherwise dedicated funds and pension plans.
- Present day pensioners contributed in full for what was promised to be an honest, properly indexed retirement income. The government of the day received from the future pensioner the then 100 cent dollar, but present government pays back short on only a current value 25 cent dollar. Added to the injury and insult is the lagging pace of index-basing, calculated on an obscene 'percentage' protocol which awards approximately six-bits to the hapless pensioner drawing down about $ 400 p.m. yet allows C.O.L. allowances or increases of about 3% to persons with incomes ranging from $ 1, 500 p.m. to $ 15,000 p.m. or more.
If the fundamental accrued C.O.L. due to devaluation and inflation is, say $ 60 p.m. that amount should be available, equitably, to everyone, flat rate: Not 60 cents to the worst off, but $150 or more to others, using the 'percentage' game.
- What delight do you derive from hitting upon the GIS recipient by clawing back from the measly-maximum any amount they might receive from another source, thus imposing their income to be 'fixed' to a dimishing purchase-worth, substandard, lower than 'welfare' and/or the 'poverty level' currently assessed to be $18,000 p.a.?
- For thirty-five years, I have promoted and strived to get acceptance for a program of GAI (Guaranteed Annual Income) it has been presented from time to time to successive governments since 1962. And to anyone who would listen – some of who have picked up and run with it! The last form of presentation is attached as another page. Can I hope it will strike a chord? It is a system that will simplify as well as be a win-win formula for all, when it is properly understood.
- Can I hope, too, that the other philosophies and proposals I have put forward over the years in articles, my book "Creative Fraud" and web site www.debtfree-taxfree.com warrant consideration and respect for having been analyses, forecasts and warnings, historically correct and defending of national, sovereign integrity.
Yours sincerely,
Fred Kirkman.
